Fox Street Mall

Two blocks of leisurely, pedestrianised space

At the other end of the precinct is the Fox Street Mall, where two blocks of leisurely, pedestrianised space have been created.

OPH owns a substantial number of the buildings along the mall, bustling with retailers like Capitec, Burger King, Edgars Connect, PostNet, Pep Cell and a lively sports bar.

The flower beds and trees offset a bronze newspaper seller sculpture, by Russell Scott. The public artwork was commissioned by Sappi in 2006, and they donated it to the City of Johannesburg and OPH. A youth stands with a pile of newspapers in one hand, and holds up one in the other hand, a tribute to newspaper sellers across the city.
